OPINIONS: Sorry Segrt, former coach already played that trick on us

Former national coach Ricki Herbert upon arrival first announced that he will find a replace for Ashfaq(Dhagandey), He tried a lot of young players in the National side. He always spoke about giving him more time.
Sound familiar?
Yes sir Mr. Segrt you are doing the same thing. We all dream of the world cup, but you are not going to fool the nation by talking about the world cup and dropping our favorite player. We love him. He saved us so many times. In football he put us on the map. And you sir, we will probably forget you in few years.
So quit talking about the world cup, talk about the task at hand first.
When you say it’s time for giving youth a chance! What are you talking about? In football we are told chance is given to those who earn it. Who has more right than Ali Ashfaq in Maldivian football? Just us fans. Talk about ticket sales. There is no one who is more marketable than Ashfaq. So who are you again?
That’s right! The National Coach. Your job is to utilize our best assets. Not give chance to people. Excuse me but we need a better explanation as to why you have dropped the Nation’s best chance of winning the SAFF Cup.
Otherwise I assure you, you are adding to the destruction of Maldivian football. This is why we do not follow the team. We do not know most of the players you have selected. We do not have any problem with them. If they perform we will love them. But Ashfaq top scorer in league and not selected in your squad is a joke.
So stop telling us tales of the world cup. We have been taken for a ride before. We know this story and we are not interested about that now. We only want a good performance in the SAFF cup now.

I believe it is an injustice to ashfaq and to The Maldives football. It is a disrespect to the football skill, outstanding performance and invaluable achievement of ashfaq. It was invaluable effort of him that delivered the trophy that we r proud of today. It wud be a dark page in the modern history of Maldives to let this injustice to go on. #shame
