Man City lead the race for Lautauro Martinez
12 April 2020
Manchester City are prepared to meet his release clause and sign the Argentine striker. City are ready to pay the £97.5million buy-out clause figure when the coronavirus crisis ends.
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are wanting the striker while Chelsea are also interested in Martinez but either unable or unwilling to pay the buy-out figure.
Martinez joined Inter from Racing Club in Argentina in 2018 the Argentine has hit 16 goals for Inter this term and has three years left on his contract.
City boss Pep Guardiola sees Martinez as the long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero. Inter’s hopes of getting him to agree a new deal were hit by the pandemic as it is believed Italian clubs will struggle financially and City's financial strength may help them to activate Martinez release clause.
